I met you and Penny(?) at the Apollo Bay YHA just before you started on the GOW. Hope the weather was kind to you.
I like the layout of your site and the great photos. It is good to see so many photos in a report, letting them tell most of the story rather than the text.
I imagine you get a few responses from bushwalkers to your GPS comments (Kiandra walk). I actually use a third method to navigate, ie, not GPS and not compass bearings. I have been doing it long enough that I can generally read the terrain on the map and match it to where I am walking. This is much quicker than either of the other methods. Look where you want to go on the map, find a sighting point and off you go.
Of course this method does not always work - fog or thick bush or darkness is a problem - but it is good enough that I only need to use a compass very occasionally. And I occasionally make mistakes, but that just gives me an opportunity to explore areas I otherwise would not get to
Cheers
David

Hi David
Great site.
FYI: I get some HTTP 404 errors when clicking on links on RHS on NZ Tramping page. (Using IE 7)
Cheers

Thanks for noting the 404 errors - these slipped in when I upgraded the index page. I have corrected this and all the NZ links work now.

Loved your photos, etc. of the St Angelus Loop Which we also did, February,'08 (in the rain and snow!), Robert's Ridge and all.... By any chance do you share your photos? We are having trouble finding one of the Angelus Hut lakes with the ridge and yours is wonderful!
Your entire site is grand and is now one of our "favorites." We are "grayer" than you, methinks. Perry Jeffords

Hi! Amazing diaries. I am planning my first trip to South American (Peru specifically) of 2.5 weeks. Your voyage seems amazing. Can you please send me a name of the tour companies that you used to get to Manu and Lake Titicaca? Thanks!
